Kenya’s Cheruiyot wins silver in 1,500m at Tokyo Olympics : The standard Sports

Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigsten denied Kenya a gold medal in the 1,500m at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Games on Saturday.

Kenya’s Timothy Cheruiyot, who was one of the pre-race favourites won silver with Britain’s Josh Kerr winning a bronze medal.

Kenya’s Abel Kipsang, who was making his debut at the Olympics in Tokyo finished in fourth place.

Ingebrigsten won the race with a new Olympics record clocking 3:28.32, to break the record the was set by Kenya’s Kipsang in the semi-finals.

Cheruiyot clocked 3:29.01 for his silver medal while Kipsang ran a new Personal Best time in fourth place after crossing the line in 3:29.05.
