Wrangles at ACK diocese of Maseno West have taken new twist after priests accused Bishop John Godia of hiring Kisumu based bouncers to harass and intimidate them.

Calls to divide the diocese into Maseno Central and Maseno West have been on since Godia was elected bishop in controversial circumstances.

Those opposed to Godia leadership are adherents from Ramula and Regea deaneries. They accuse Godia of harassing faces pushing for the division of the diocese.

Reverend Charlton Ochola is leading the rebels. They claim that Godia fearing mission to split the diocese is gaining momentum has resorted to harassing reverends and threatening them with sackings.

Weekly Citizen has information that out of 22 churches in Ramula and Regea deaneries, 18 have agreed to have the diocese split into two something that has seen Godia camp panic.

We have information, recently, five reverends out of the 18 lobbying for the division of the diocese were summoned by Godia and threatened with sacking.

The anti-Godia camp are pushing for a special sitting of the diocesan synod to ratify their exodus. However, Godia side claim it is impossible since the last synod meeting resolved that a new diocese can only be formed after 10 years.

The Ramula and Regea followers led by Reverend Kenneth Wachianga are openly against the diocese leadership which they claim isengaged in witchhunting.

The anti-Godia team has been coordinating and networking at Friends Hotel in Siaya to petition the bishop to call for a synod meeting.

Godia blames Gem followers for pushing the split when diocese was not too big as claimed.
