Powerful governor’s wife brokers top appointment – Weekly Citizen

Kisumu governor Anyang Nyong’o’s wife was instrumental in the appointment of former Moi University don Boaz Otieno as the new county executive committee member for health. Before his appointment, Otieno had told friends that Dorothy Nyong’o had approved his appointment.

Otieno was associate professor at Moi University School of Health Sciences and was serving director for Programmes at the Western Kenya US Centre for Disease Control. The appointment has divided the MCAs who are to approve it in county assembly Dr Otieno will take over the docket held by Governor Nyong’o after Miguda Attyang, was transferred to the cooperatives docket. Attyang has differed with Dorothy the queen behind the throne.

The workers who last year downed their tools twice are dissatisfied with operations in the docket which has seen their promotions and salaries delayed.
