Ulinzi move to fourth after beating Posta Rangers 2-0

Former Kenyan Premier League champions Ulinzi Stars have moved up to the fourth place in the league table after beating Posta Rangers 2-0 in a league match played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

The team coached by Benjamine Nyangweso netted their opener in the 33rd minute through Enosh Ochieng then Oscar Wamalwa doubled the scoreline five minutes to time.

Posta Rangers who have lost their last five matches remains 10th on the log with 19th points.

In the other match, AFC Leopards thrashed Zoo FC 4-1 in a league match played at the Bukhungu Stadium thanks to John Makwatta’s hattrick.

Leopards are lying 7th on the log with 25 points after 15 matches while Zoo FC is in position 12 with 13 points after playing 14 matches.

Gor Mahia tops the league standings with 32 points after playing 13 matches.

Elsewhere, Ulinzi Stars defender Omar Mbongi is expected to miss the second half of the Kenyan Premier League after he was redeployed by the Kenya Armed forces.

Mbongi has been a key member of the team over the past five years and his exit will now force head coach Benjamine Nyangweso to restructure his defence.  

Mbongi played his final game for Ulinzi Stars against Kakamega Homeboys on 15 of November last year at the Afraha Stadium.

Ulinzi stars currently lie fourth on the league standings with 28 points after playing 15 matches and will face Wazito FC in their next game on Wednesday.
