A concerned social media user took to Twitter on Saturday evening to warn consumers that artificial eggs had entered the Kenyan market.

Lately, videos have been spreading across Africa with consumers complaining of artificial food in the stores. From plastic fish, to plastic rice and now plastic eggs.

In the video, the lady demonstrates how she discovered all was not well with the eggs she had bought at a kiosk outside their estate in Lang’ata and warned Kenyans to be careful of what they consume.

Anyone who knows a public health officer based in Langata area? Please RT/ assist urgently. I had a case of purchasing artificial eggs yesterday and yes, they had a clear and hard plastic crust after frying them.I hate to imagine people have been innocently consuming this.

only reason I noticed was that I didn't whisk the eggs before frying.I cracked them straight into the pan and was done in under 2 mins kawaida time. When I tried cutting with a knife I noticed the crust that wasn't coming apart so I proceeded to use my hands (ignore the nails?) pic.twitter.com/PZ5vHax4dl
