“I am happy with the team for the display they have shown in this tournament so far. The competition is stiff and qualifying for the quarterfinals is an indication that KCB is an elite club in the continent. We have prepared adequately for the knockout stages and we hope we will make it to the finals.” Said Munala.
Middle Blocker and Captain Edith Wisa echoed her coach’s sentiments alluding that the team has done extremely well in the group stages amidst the grueling competition and believes her teammates will put into action the instructions from the technical bench to finish the tournament on a high.
“As the competition advances, we expect tough matches therefore we need to be very strategic in our approach to these games and also be mentally strong to overcome all the obstacles that may arise given the nature of the tournament.” She said.
KCB and Kenya Prisons have a long-standing rivalry going neck to neck in local and international tournaments. The former finished runners-up in last season’s Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league with the latter being crowned champions.
The bankers are currently leading the pack in the Kenyan Volleyball league with Prisons sitting second after round 5.
