Majority of Kenyans Support Martha Karua as Odinga’s Running mate

The target given to Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya Co-Principal Moses Wetangula to deliver 70 % votes to Kenya Kwanza was unrealistic, only compared to fetching water by using a gunny bag-Fred Gumo

Former Cabinet Minister Fred Gumo has hailed Azimio Presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga’s choice of Martha Karua as his running mate saying it will greatly solidify his lead over Deputy President William Ruto.

He said the choice of Karua had tilted opinion in Mr Odinga’s favour, a few days after the Azimio leader made the announcement. That according to Gumo is significantly greater than the previous poll that rated both Ruto and Odinga tying at 42 % each. Mr Gumo spoke in Endebess on Thursday when he addressed a mammoth rally where he campaigned for Mr Odinga, Azimio governor aspirant for Trans Nzoia George Natembeya and his son Pius Omjujo who is vying for the Endebes Parliamentary seat.

Fred Gumo said Deputy President William Ruto’s choice of Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua will have no major impact owing to several cases of corruption facing him

He said the target given to Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya Co-Principal Moses Wetangula to deliver 70 % votes to Kenya Kwanza was unrealistic, only compared to fetching water by using a gunny bag.   ‘’From which constituencies shall the two be able to raise the required percentage of votes for Kenya Kwanza to be allocated the imaginary positions? ‘’, he asked.

Both Odinga and Karua, according to Gumo appear to have gotten a bounce in personal favorability numbers from the announcement with the pair’s rating gaining Central Kenya which had been misconstrued to be the Deputy President’s bedroom. He said Deputy President William Ruto’s choice of Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua will have no major impact owing to several cases of corruption facing him.

He predicted that Odinga’s favorability will be hitting its highest point in almost all counties.  He wondered why the two had accepted to fall into the Deputy President’s trap of cheating them that they would be appointed to plum positions if they helped him gunner 70 % votes in Western Kenya.

He poked holes into the Kenya Kwanza Alliance agreement which assured both Musalia and Wetangula a 30 per cent stake in the government, saying it amounts to political con manship.
