Four police officers who were filmed on Monday clobbering students of Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT) have been interdicted, the Inspector General of Police Hilary Muytambai has confirmed.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday, IG Mutyambai (pictured) said that action has been taken against the officers after they were seen brutally beating students contrary to the law.
The IG and Interior Cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i on Tuesday vowed action against officers after Kenyans condemned the manner in which they handled the students’ protest.

In a video, which has been circulating on social media, four police officers armed with guns and batons can be seen hitting a male student with the batons and kicking him on the head.
JKUAT students poured into the streets to protest what they termed as rising insecurity in Juja main campus. The University’s Senate thereafter ordered the closure of the institution indefinitely as learners were directed to go home.
