The Ministry of Health has confirmed 1,546 new Covid-19 cases from 9,752 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the country’s caseload to 217,276.
This has raised to 2,228,318 the cumulative number of samples tested since March 2019. The country’s positivity rate is at 15.9 per cent.
In a statement issued on Thursday, 12th August, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the new cases, 1,531 are Kenyans while 15 are foreigners, with 763 being males and 783 females. The youngest is a two-month-old-infant while the oldest is 114.
Some 559 patients have recovered from the disease, 120 were discharged from various hospitals, and 439 from the home-based and isolation care, raising the total to 199,998.
The Covid-19 death toll rose to 4,273 after 32 more patients succumbed.
