After a closed-door meeting with UDA gubernatorial candidate in Nairobi City last evening, Senator Johnson Sakaja and Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has raised eyebrows.
Senator Johnson Sakaja shared images from their meeting on social media. The two met on Friday evening in an undisclosed location in Nairobi.
Senator Sakaja, using Wanyonyi’s campaign catchphrase “sio mimi ni sisi,” claimed they are going to make Nairobi work without divulging additional details of their meeting.
“Let’s make Nairobi a success,” Sakaja declared after the meeting.
Sakaja had come out earlier on Friday to criticise the Azimio la Umoja camp for reportedly pressuring Tim Wanyonyi to shelve his gubernatorial ambition in favour of former Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe.
Tim Wanyonyi was supposed to deputise Polycarp Igathe, according to sources, but he refused, claiming it was either the governorship or nothing.
Despite efforts by a number of ODM leaders to persuade him otherwise, he is said to have opted to defend his current position.
In a press conference on Friday, Sakaja referred to Igathe as a “Deep State and State House project” , claiming that he was the “people’s project” who will defeat Igathe in August.
Now there are murmurs that Sakaja is trying to woo Wanyonyi to Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance from ODM of Raila Odinga.
