The Ministry of Health has announced 1,571 new Covid-19 cases, raising the country’s caseload to 208,262.
In a statement issued on Thursday, 5th August, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the latest figure was derived from the 9,065 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
This brings to 2,166,046 the cumulative number of Covid-19 tests. The country’s positivity rate now stands at 17.3 per cent.
Of the new cases, 1,538 are Kenyans while 33 are foreigners, with 846 being males and 725 females. The youngest is a four-month-old infant, while the oldest is 103.
Kagwe said 4,497 that patients had recovered from the disease, 4,335 from the home-based and isolation care programme, and 163 from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries is 195,685.
Some 32 more patients have succumbed, raising the death toll to 4,057.
