189 people test positive as 12 more perish

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has announced that the country has lost 12 more patients to COVID-19.

Kagwe said this was the highest number of fatalities recorded in the in Kenya pushing the death toll to 197.

The departed patients are all from Nairobi county. Three of them died at home while nine lost the fight to the disease in various hospitals.

Kagwe disclosed the country had recorded 189 more people who had tested positive for the virus increasing the country’s COVID-19 tally to 10,294.

“We have tested 1,205 out of which 189 of those tested positive bringing the total number of positive people in the country to 10, 294. Some 106 of those are male while 83 are female. The youngest is five while the eldest is 71.

We have discharged 65 patients, bringing the total of recovered to 2,946. We have lost 12 patients as a result of COVID-19, all 12 are in Nairobi with three dying from home,” said Kagwe.
