How to Check Form One Placement

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha on Monday, 11th April released the results for the Form One selection of over 1.2 million candidates who sat for the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCPE).

Addressing the media Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) CS Magoha announced that the form one admission date will start on 3rd May.

He noted that all the candidates who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) had been placed in 9,200 public schools.

Out of the 1.2 million candidates, 38,797 were placed in National schools, 214,960 were placed in extra county schools, 258,456 in county schools, and 726,311 in sub-county schools whereas 2,045 candidates were placed in special needs schools.

The CS noted that the Form One selection was conducted digitally adding that parents can now check through texts.

According to Magoha Nanyuki High School was for the second time in a row the most sought secondary school after 156,003 candidates selected the school despite it having only 400 slots.

Speaking on funding for candidates unable to cater to their school needs, the CS said that the government will provide 9,000 scholarships to underprivileged students in accordance with the government’s transition strategy.

He, however, noted that students from urban informal settlements will be granted a preference for 4,000 scholarships.

Further, Magoha stated that bursaries should only be granted to needy children and those in boarding schools.

Here is how to check for Form One placement

Parents and guardians of candidates can now check the schools where their children have selected to join by sending the pupil’s index number to 22263.

The charges are Ksh25 per SMS, however, those unable to access the instructions through texts can visit the Education ministry’s website.
