On Saturday, June 11, a bright light went out in Migori County and Ohangla singers were plunged into a sombre mood and depressive state.

Popular queen of Luo music Lady Maureen was no more after suffering from an undisclosed illness for years.

The beauty whose radiance was always felt whenever she stepped on stage left behind a grieving mother and fans who were still in denial.

She breathed her last at around 3am shortly after being discharged from hospital.

1. But this is not one of those sad tributes. It is one of happiness, glee, pride and complete admiration.

The late songstress was a force to reckon with and her voice was as sweet as honey, it was smooth, reassuring, entertaining, intimidating and intoxicating all at once.

2. Back when she was the in thing, Maureen made appearances in packed clubs and watering points and she had men glued to her all the time.

She sang like an angel and serenaded people out of their darkness and sadness every time she clutched onto the microphone.

3. The Ohangla star was above every praiseworthy word known to man, she was above all the sweet nothings created and she was above any description that painted her as regular.

4. Sadly, her career took an ugly turn when club appearances turned to hospital visits.

5. Since the onset of 2020, Maureen had been to numerous hospitals seeking help for her ailment.

6. She could not walk, speak coherently, stay lucid for long or even recognize her environment most of the time she was in hospital.

7. In February 2018, the star collapsed on stage while performing at a club in Umoja.

The Wangni Wabiro singer later accused her friends of abandoning her when she needed them the most.

8. While admitted to Pastor Machage Memorial Hospital, Maureen said her kids were having it rough as her friends stayed away from her and her family.

The singer who was undergoing numerous transfusions felt like a failure because she could not provide for her kin.
