Mixed reactions after Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa met with the Kakamega County Governor and Council of Governors Chairperson Wildlife Oparanya on Thursday 9 June.

As leaders continues to traverse camps in bid to position themselves for 2022 politics, questions have been raised on whether one of Deputy President William Ruto’s strong supporter is planning to ditch the DP’s camp after meeting with ODM Governor.

Taking to his Twitter handle page, the Kakamega Governor without shedding much light on the meeting agenda disclosed that he held a consultative meeting with Barasa to discuss development and youth affairs in the region.

“In the spirit of working together will all leaders from Western region regardless of their political affiliation, this evening I have held a consultative meeting with Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa to discuss development and youth affairs,” read Oparanya’s post on Twitter.

The meeting was also graced by Budalangi Member of Parliament Raphael Wanjala who was elected on Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.

Didmus through his Facebook account also acknowledged their meeting confirming that they also discussed the region’s politics.

“This evening I held a consultative meeting with Council of Governors Chairperson H.E Governor Oparanya in company of his deputy H.E Prof. Philip Kutima. We discussed myriad of issues ranging from development to political that are key to the people we represent,” Barasa posted on Facebook.

The two leaders meeting sparked mixed reactions as the finer details of the meeting remains scanty with many netizens suspecting that Barasa could be on his way out of Ruto’s camp.

Others lauded the two leaders as they called upon other leaders from the region to bury their political differences and work on uniting the region to promote developments in Western Kenya.
