Gilad Millo Officially Acquires Kenyan Citizenship After 21 Years

Gilad Millo, a former Israeli Head of Mission at the Israeli Embassy in Kenya and a musician, has finally acquired Kenyan citizenship after 21 years.

The ‘Mapenzi’ hitmaker took to Twitter to share happy moments upon receiving a Certificate of Registration that verified his new citizenship.

In a social media post, Gilad revealed that he had applied for citizenship six years ago.

“It has been 21 years since I first came to Kenya and 6 years since I applied for my Kenyan Citizenship. Now it is finally official. NAJIVUNIA KUWA MKENYA. #GodIsGood.” He wrote.

The two-time AFRIMA winner known for his love songs infused with English and Swahili disclosed that he first came to Nairobi in 1996.

“I came to Nairobi first in August 1996, backpacking as a university student. My girlfriend and I took a month off and came to Kenya”.

Besides music, Gilad is a garlic farmer and a co-founder of Ole Raha Limited which aims at boosting the garlic sector in Kenya by educating the farmers on quality seed germination and garlic farming practices.

He is also a journalist with a wealth of experience having worked at Israel Channel Two News. As a journalist, he covered the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States and Afghanistan war which began in 2001.

Gilad is a polyglot and can speak English, Hebrew, Turkish, Spanish, and Swahili.
