Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices have shot through the roof in the past few months.

Due to this, for the better part of Sunday, Kenyans discussed the effects of these new developments, after a brief statement by Rubis Energy on the pricing of different cylinders surfaced online.

According to Rubis Energy, the dealer’s price for the 13-kiogramme cylinder was at Sh2,684 before VAT which pushed it to Sh3,113. However, the consumers will be refilling the cylinder at Sh3,340 starting today.

The overall gist was about the high cost of living and the government doing nothing to alleviate the suffering.

Rubis stated its intention to raise LPG prices by today, March 7th 2022

Reactions from Kenyans on Twitter

Though the discussions took a political turn, the fact is that the National Assembly agreed to raise taxes on LPG.

The war between Ukraine and Russia is also another factor that will sure raise the prices of the essential comodity.

Conservationists have decried the rise in the prices of cooking gas saying it will hurt forest conservation efforts.
