Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria is a disappointed man after the candidate he had settled on to be his running mate as he guns for the Kiambu gubernatorial seat rejected the offer.

Kuria claimed that she had approached celebrated media personality Janet Mbugua to deputise him.

He said he considered several people for the people, but Janet impressed her most.

“I’m shattered. After scoring the highest marks in the talent search for Kiambu deputy governor, Janet Mbugu will not be taking up the job due to unforeseen emergencies that she has to attend to in the immediate term,” he said.

However, the lawmaker promised that he will tap into the former Citizen TV news anchor’s knowledge if he wins the seat.

“My administration will definitely find a way to benefit from Janet’s experience and capacity in the future. I fell the loss. Janet is a huge inspiration for the youth, professionals, women, and young mothers in this country,” he said.

Explaining why he turned down the offer, the philanthropist said she was not ready to join politics at this juncture of her life.

All the same, she noted that she was ready to join forces with Kuria to help women and girls achieve their dreams.

“Thanks, Hon Moses Kuria for considering me capable to serve Kiambu County as deputy governor. Indeed, active engagements in politics isn’t for me at the moment. I remain available in support of quality service to the good people Kiambu and all of Kenya, more so vulnerable women and girls,” she said.

Janet has made a strong brand for herself and joining elective politics would have come with huge consequences given the nature of the country’s political arena.

In a recent advert in the newspaper, Kuria said he will choose a woman to deputise him.
