The national rugby 7s team has been drawn in Pool A for this weekend’s sixth round of the HSBC Sevens World Series in Vancouver, Canada on 16/17 April.
Shujaa, who exited the Singapore 7s at the ninth place semifinal stage have been drawn against Fiji, USA and England.
The team is currently placed tenth on the series standings after collecting 5 points in Singapore which took their season’s tally to 36 points after the opening five rounds.
Kenya will be seeking to better on their last year’s performance during the same leg when they finished second after a 38-5 cup final defeat to South Africa at the BC Place in September.
This was Shujaa’s first Cup final in the World Rugby Sevens series in three seasons.
The last time Kenya had reached the final was during the 2017/2018 World Sevens Series.
Interestingly, it was at the Vancouver Sevens and Hong Kong Sevens where they lost to Fiji 31-12 and 24-12 in both occasions.
It was the first all-African Cup final since 2008 Adelaide, and the only one in the series’ history.
