Azimio la Umoja One Kenya candidates in the Mt Kenya region have been instructed to display Raila Odinga in all their campaign materials or forgo funding from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The declaration was made when Raila, the Azimio presidential candidate met Murang’a hopefuls on Wednesday at Thika Greens hotel.
Contenders appear to have avoided aligning themselves with the former Prime Minister’s presidential campaign, preferring to present themselves as Jubilee Party presidential candidates.
“We’re looking for brave and upbeat foot warriors. We are aware that it may be more difficult in Mt Kenya than in other regions. But don’t lose hope and stay loyal to the cause. We have other fronts in this fight that are doing quite well, and I can assure you that we are winning,” Raila said.
He stated that he is aware that the foot soldiers require financial support in order to fight the battle.
Raila was reacting to concerns expressed by Gatanga MP Nduati Ngugi, who stated some candidates were fearing to market the Azimio leader.
“We’re running an audit check on our loyal foot soldiers so that we don’t wind up arming an adversary who may have infiltrated us,” Ngugi explained.
He stated that billboards and advertisements promoting Raila as the preferred candidate should begin to appear in the Mt Kenya region.
Murang’a Woman Representative Jubilee candidate Evelyne Waithera sparked Mr Ngugi’s statement when she said she believed hopefuls would require “special support” to effectively campaign for Mr Odinga.
“We need a specific Odinga campaign group on the ground to aid us since it will be difficult to get individual votes while also campaigning for him. We want a staff that will do the hard work while the hopefuls follow in farrowing. It’s difficult job,” she explained.
Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth said they are leaving nothing to chance to ensure Raila replaces President Kenyatta in August.
“We’re fighting a right-wing movement that excels at spreading propaganda, lies, and abuse against our leaders and government. It’s our job to rectify it and portray Mr Odinga as the antidote to that falsehood,” he explained.
Kenneth went on to say that he had volunteered to physically, financially, and morally support faithful aspirants on the campaign trail who would demonstrate their devotion to the Odinga presidency.
If everything goes according to plan, Mr Odinga plans to seek a super majority in the National Assembly, Senate, and county assemblies.
“To ensure that the government’s objective is carried out smoothly, all residences must be painted in Azimio colours.” “I should be guaranteed numbers to push through our joint pledge to the people when I work at State House,” he said.
Mr Odinga stated that he favours a scenario in which Azimio voters are educated on the importance of voting six-piece (President, governor, senator, MP, woman rep and ward aspirants).
Interior Principal Secretary appears to the man the President has tasked to to finance Azimio candidates from the Mountain.
