The loss of their two children left the wife of Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura, Mukami Mwaura completely shattered.

Mukami and Mwaura had triplets in 2017, but two of them died months later after being hospitalized to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Mukami spoke to Spice FM’s Barbara M’mbaka about her traumatic experience from the moment her triplets were delivered to the subsequent suffering she had to undergo.

“I gave birth to triplets in 2017, but two of them died. My son now five-years-old. One of the babies died after two days, and the other died after three months,” Mukami explained.

She watched her babies fight for their lives, but she could little to help them.

“I had to be admitted to the hospital for depression at one time; I was suffering from postpartum depression and trauma depression. I felt alone because I didn’t know anyone and my husband and family were unsure how to assist me. I was a new mother and heartbroken.”

Mukami added speaking to other mothers who had lost their children made the healing journey a bit easy.

Mukami said that she was laid off from her work while she was six months pregnant.

Her noble Kena organization was founded as a result of her hard experience of loss and suffering.

“We help families with premature children. Kena is also a good location to look for information on how to help women with premature babies live and thrive. We also provide mental health support and education.”
