MATHARE GANG LISTED ON DCI’S SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT HAVE BEEN CHARGED WITH ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE.

Individuals who were listed on DCI’s social media account as notorious criminals have been charged.

Patrick Wekesa, Joseph Makau, Rehema Njeri Onga’i, Hadijah Onga’i, are alleged to be involved in extortion and kidnapping.

They were arraigned before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Vigilance Mumbi where they pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the charges.

According to the prosecution, the five had attempted to extort Sh3 million from businessman Abdul Aziz by alleging his son had been involved in a grisly road accident along Kiambu road.

The offence was committed on May 25.

With the exception of Onga’i, the other accused persons were charged separately with robbery with violence.

They are accused of robbing Jainam Mayur Shah of Sh447,000 and then proceeded to wound the victim.

The accused committed the offence on April 24, this year at the same place while armed with dangerous weapons.

They were all released on Sh 1 million bond each.
