The attack, which took place in Dabka, Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital, on January 16, left the Spokesperson sustaining severe injuries. He survived the ambush and was rushed to a nearby medical facility, and the Government has reported that he is in a stable condition.

According to witnesses’ accounts, an attacker carrying an explosive approached a car that Mohamed was travelling in and detonated the bomb at a close range, killing himself.

Dabka is an infamous place where terrorists have been targeting, considering that it is in a central position where most people converge for activities such as trade.

Communication from the Somali Government outlined that the attack was due to political wrangles experienced in the country.

Mohamed is aligned to Somali Prime Minister (PM) Mohamed Hussein Roble’s political camp, and the PM recently clashed with incumbent President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.

Al Shabaab has been carrying out a series of attacks in the troubled nation, and recently, they attacked the Northern part of Aden Adde International Airport where eight people were confirmed dead.
