Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has tested positive for Covid-19 upon his arrival in Cameroon for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The news comes days after Aubameyang was filmed out in Dubai partying with Gabon team-mate Mario Lemina.

Lemina, the former Southampton and Fulham midfielder who now plays for Ligue 1 side Nice, has also tested positive.

The duo will most likely miss their first game on Monday against Comoros and the game against Ghana next week

This is the second time the Arsenal star has contracted the virus. The 32-year-old previously tested positive for Covid-19 in August 2020 before the start of the new Premier League season and was also hospitalised with malaria in April.

This is another blow for Aubameyang who was stripped of the captaincy by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta last month over disciplinary breach.

Having not played for the Gunners since 6th December, Aubameyang was called up to the Gabon team for this year’s continental tournament.

Gabon are due to kick off their Afcon tournament against Comoros on 10th January before facing Ghana four days later and rounding off Group C against Morocco on 18th January.
