Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni says the party is in a coalition with ODM and other parties to end the confrontational nature of the Country’s politics.

Speaking on Radio Taifa, in his first interview after taking over as the Secretary General, Kioni said their aim is to unite Kenyans by championing unity and peace during campaigns, elections and after the elections.

“Our politics have matured, we are at a point where communities must now support others for the Presidency and not just vote among ethnic lines,” He said.

Kioni lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision to sit down with ODM Leader Raila Odinga saying the peace Kenyans are enjoying today is as a result of the famous handshake.

“We should not forget where we have come from especially after the 2017 elections where opposition leader Raila Odinga went to Uhuru park to swear himself as the peoples president, Teargas Monday and Tuesday were the order of the day, the business environment in the capital was ruined,” He said.

Kioni insists that President Uhuru kept his Deputy William Ruto informed on the handshake saying it’s unfortunate for DP Ruto to claim he was not aware.

He said When President Uhuru won the election for his second term he urged us to primarily focus on development for the people of Kenya.

“Some of us agreed to listen to the President others decided to start their campaigns for 2022 immediately, that’s where the DP erred,” He said.

Kioni says Jubilee party will field candidates across the Country but will support Raila for the presidency saying, “The only person who can implement the BBI proposals is the one who initiated the process, that’s why we are supporting Raila,”

Kioni maintains that the proposals in the BBI were good for the Country, and they will ensure the next Government implements them.
