Babu Owino Close Ally, ODM Activist Mysteriously Dies at Kilimani Club

Former Maseno University students’ leader Charlow Juma Okusimba is dead.

According to his friends, the active ODM supporter died on Thursday after a night out with friends.

Those in the know say that Okusimba was at Abyssinia club in Kilimani, Nairobi, in the company of friends.

He reportedly collapsed while enjoying his drink, but his friends thought he was just tipsy.

Instead of taking proper actions, they placed him in a couch and left.

He was found dead on Friday afternoon.

Some of his friends want detectives to carry out investigation to unravel the mystery.

Others want an autopsy conducted to establish what led to his death, as the previous day he was healthy and vibrant.

Until his death, Okusimba closely worked with Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.

Their friendship started way back when both were student leaders. Owino was a student at the University of Nairobi (UoN).

“May you rest in osiepa (my friend),” Owino mourned.

He also had a cordial relationship with senior ODM officials.

The deceased has been described as a firebrand mobiliser and political strategist.

Suna East MP and ODM Director of Elections Junet Mohamed said he has lost a great friend.

“I have learnt with great sadness the passing of Charlow Juma Okusimba, whom I chatted with just days ago. My condolences to family, friends and comrades of Charles for this terrible loss,” he said.

In his tribute, ODM Director of Communication Philip Etale noted that he met Juma the day before he died and was in high spirits.

He will be missed by many.
