Blaise Compaore jailed for life over 1987 killing of Thomas Sankara

Burkina Faso’s former president Blaise Compaore, 71, has been handed a life sentence over the 1987 assassination of revolutionary leader Thomas Sankara.

Sankara and 12 others were cut down in a hail of bullets at a top government meeting 35 years ago.
