Controversial blogger and cyber-activist Robert Alai has declared that he will run for the Kileleshwa MCA seat in the 9th August General Election.
Alai who had earlier shown an interest in the Nyando MP seat will compete for the seat on an ODM party ticket.
Speaking about his decision, Alai said there’s a leadership gap in Kileleshwa that he needs to fill by addressing the many challenges the ward is facing.
”I have lived in Kileleshwa for the past four years. And after my research, I realized that there is a gap in the leadership of the ward. That is why I have declared interest to fill that Particular gap, ” he added.
He further claimed that inadequate resources have pushed him to drop out of the Nyando MP race for he is in competition with individuals with ready and available funds.
“Most of us newcomers in elective politics are faced with lack of adequate resources unlike our competitors who have the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) at their disposal,” he said.
Alai will now be looking to take over from the incumbent Elias Otieno who has since set his eyes on Suna East parliamentary seat in Migori.
Also will be battling it out with Ayisha Shollei of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) for the seat.
