President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced the end of cessation of movement in the country during his sixth public address since the first case of Covid-19 was reported in the country at Harambee House on Monday 6 July.

In reference to his last address on 6 June where Kenyans posed questions on whether or not to re-open the country, he noted that they decided to prioritize enhancing the country’s capacity to handle the pandemic.

The Head of State also mentioned having meetings with the Council of Governors (CoG), education stakeholders, and religious leaders posing that are Kenyans ready to open.

“The question before us is have we as a country met the irreducible minimum? Are we ready to open?” President Kenyatta asked.

President Kenyatta further stated that the country is not yet prepared one hundred percent across the counties but has so far made significant progress.

He then announced an end to the cessation of movement in Nairobi, Mombasa and Garissa Counties but extended curfew by 30 more days.
