The Anti Corruption Court has dismissed an application by Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong to suspend the Ksh 8 million graft proceedings against him claiming the state counsel had intimidated and threatened his defence witness.
He was charged together with seven others in 2018 over the alleged loss of the funds belonging to Busia County.
Before Anti-corruption Magistrate Douglas Ogoti the governor had applied to have his case suspended claiming he intended to lodge an appeal at the appellate court seeking suspension of his trial.
He avers that failure to suspend the trial will render the entire proceedings at the lower court (Magistrate court) insignificant should the stay be denied.
Ojaamong and Co accused were charged with conspiracy to commit an economic crime.
Engaging in a project without prior planning, abuse of office and fraudulent acquisition of public property.
