Covid-19: 323 Test Positive as 15 More Succumb

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has announced 323 new Covid-19 cases from 3,676 samples tested in the last 24 hours, raising the national tally to 192,758.

This brings to 2,053,912, the cumulative number of samples tested so far. The country’s positivity rate stands at 8.8 per cent.

In a statement issued on Sunday, 18th July, Kagwe announced that from the new cases, 298 are Kenyans while 25 are foreigners, with 180 being males and 143 females. The youngest is a one-year-old child and the oldest is 90.

Kagwe said 644 patients had recovered from the disease, 604 from the home-based and isolation care programme, while 40 are from various health facilities across the country. The total number of recoveries now stands at 182,326.

The Covid-19 death toll rose to 3,775 after 15 more patients succumbed to the disease.

Meanwhile, 1,203 patients have been admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 4,384 patients are in home-based isolation and care.

Some 132 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 40 of whom are on ventilatory support, 63 on supplemental oxygen and 29 patients are on observation.

Another 272 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 250 of them in general wards and 22 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
