Covid-19 Cases Climb to 183,603 as 9 More Patients Succumb – LitKenya

The Ministry of Health on Tuesday, 29th June, confirmed 719 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, raising the national tally of infections to 183,603.

The new cases were detected from some 7,608 samples tested, bringing country’s cumulative tests to 1,953,344. The country’s positivity rate is at 9.5 per cent.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the cases, 666 are Kenyans while 53 are foreigners. Some 435 are males while 284 are females, with the youngest being a one-year-old child while the oldest is 93.

The national death toll rose to 3,621 after nine more patients succumbed to the virus.

Some 800 patients have recovered from the disease, 695 from the Home-Based and Isolation Care program while 105 are from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries now stands at 125,388.

There are 1,088 patients currently admitted in various health facilities, while 6,465 patients are under Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

At the same time, 112 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 35 of whom are on ventilatory support, 47 on supplemental oxygen and 30 patients are under observation.

Another 129 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 112 of them in general wards and 17 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
