Eight more people have succumbed to Covid-19 raising the death toll to 5,462.
The latest deaths were reported in the last one week across various health facilities countrywide where a total of 1,223 patients are currently admitted, while 21,411 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
According to the health ministry, 42 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 41 of them on ventilatory support while one is on supplemental oxygen.
Another 298 patients are on supplemental oxygen and 293 of them are in the general wards. 5 patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
3,320 patients have recovered from the disease, 2,991 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 329 are from various health facilities countrywide.
Total recoveries now stand at 271,893 of whom 221,481 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 50,412 are from various health facilities countrywide.
Meanwhile, 1,105 new infections were recorded from a sample size of 6,945 tested in the last 24 hours putting the positivity rate at 15.9pc.
From the cases, 1,051 are Kenyans while 54 are foreigners. 571 females and 534 are males.
The youngest is a one-month-old baby while the oldest is 102 years. Total confirmed positive cases are now 313,677 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,111,402.
In terms of County distribution; Nairobi 262, Mombasa 75, Siaya 75, Bomet 74, Kisumu 67, Uasin Gishu 62, Laikipia 61, Nakuru 48, Kilifi 33, Kisii 28, Kakamega 28, Taita Taveta 27, Vihiga 27, Makueni 22, Bungoma 19, Busia 19, Kiambu 18, Embu 15, Nyamira 15, Marsabit 13, Nyandarua 11, Meru 9, Tharaka Nithi 9, Garissa 7, Homa Bay 7, Murang’a 7, Nyeri 7, Machakos 7, Kericho 6, Narok 6, Kwale 5, West Pokot 5, Nandi 5, Baringo 4, Mandera 4, Migori 4, Turkana 4, Lamu 3, Kajiado 3, Elgeyo Marakwet 2 and Kirinyaga 2.
Vaccinations
As of January 10th 2022, a total of 10,696,021 vaccines has been administered across the country. Of these, 6,077,770 are partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated are 4,533,842. Another 24,697 are doses administered to those between 15 to 18 years while 59,712 are booster doses.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 56.8%. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 16.6%.
The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
The top 10 counties are; Nairobi in the lead with 35.7% of the population fully vaccinated followed by Nyeri 33.0%, Laikipia 26.7%, Kiambu 23.6%, Kakamega 22.1%, Taita Taveta 19.5%, Uasin Gishu at 19.1%, Murang’a 18.9%, Nyandarua 18.5%, Machakos 18.1% and Kirinyaga 18.0%.
