Tears flowed freely during the burial of Nominated MP David Sankok’s 15-year-old son in Narok County on Saturday.

His eulogy portrayed an image of a young child who had his life in order, easily blending humour and the demands of responsibility.

“The mischievous sense of humour of Memusi is the first persistent feature that anyone who knew him will never forget. Memusi never failed to recognize the humorous side of any event and to communicate it in his own distinctive way,” the family eulogy read in part.

“He effortlessly shared laughter and joy. We all knew we’d smile when Memusi stepped through the door at home, no matter what was going on. Memusi’s smile was the second thing that stood out about him. He grinned readily and frequently, emitting warmth or mischief depending on the situation, and forcing everyone around him to reciprocate with a smile. He was a contented soul.”

Memusi was also praised by his parents as a responsible child who knew when and how to be firm.

In their tribute, Memusi’s siblings said they are yet to come to terms with the death of their brother.

“Memusi our beloved brother and friend… We are dumbfounded and lacking words to express the pain in our hearts that you are no longer with us. Your outstanding smile, wit and unique persona… are some of the beautiful memories we will cherish.”

He was about to start Form Three at Kericho High School when he died.

Several accounts claimed that Memusi’s death was caused by a conflict between his parents.

Memusi fatally shot himself using his father’s shotgun.
