The two front runners in the August 9 presidential election are back on the campaign trail a day after taking a break to celebrate Madaraka day.
Deputy President William Ruto, leading the Kenya Kwanza brigade and Azimio la Umoja flag bearer Raila Odinga, joined the president Wednesday for the national holiday held at Uhuru Gardens.
The two will be campaigning in Ukambani and Nairobi in a bid to rally as many as 50+1 votes ahead of the polls.
Ruto will be drumming support for his bid in Makueni and Machakos Counties. According to his itinerary, he is scheduled to arrive in Wote town at 8 am to chair an economic forum.
He will be in Sultan Hamud Town, Kilome Constituency and Kola Market in Machakos Town in the afternoon.
In March he was in Kitui county where said he promised to sign an agreement with the local leadership.
“I am ready to sign a charter with the people of Kitui on their priorities,” he said.
Elsewhere, The Azimio team will be holding a presidential rally in Visions Grounds-Mukuru Kwa Njenga.
Unconfirmed reports indicate Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka who has hinted at the possibility of rejoining Azmio will be at the rally.
