Deputy President William Ruto has yet again broken his silence on the ongoing Jubilee purge that has seen his alies loose various parliamentary positions.

On Thursday July 16, DP Ruto took to social media to share a spiritual message to all Members of Parliament after confirmation of the changes in House committees.

“With the changes in Parliamentary leadership including committee membership and leadership now concluded, I urge all MPs not to be divided but work together in serving the people.

“Colossians.3:23, Whatever you do,work at it with all your heart, as working for God,not human masters,” wrote the Deputy President.

The changes that were effected in house committees on Wednesday, July 15 relegated some of Ruto’s allies to less powerful positions.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) were the biggest beneficiaries of the purge as Minority Whip Junet Mohammed, Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo and Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma were appointed to the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee.

The appointments have been viewed as vital to ensure that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report is implemented through Parliament.

A strong Ruto supporter, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa was ousted from the Budget committee chair position and moved to the Members Services and Hospitality committee.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria was removed from the Budget committee with Kieni MP Kanini Kega placed as the new chair.

Moses Kuria was also ousted from the Transport committee as vice chair and will serve as a member of the Implementation committee.

Ruto first broke his silence on the Jubilee purge while speaking during a burial in Nandi County on Friday, July 3, as he noted that the changes would not dampen his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
