Deputy President William Ruto on Friday took his campaigns to Gatundu South in Kiambu County to market his presidential bid days after he was endorsed as UDA presidential candidate.

This was the first time the second in command was campaigning in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s rural home after their fallout in 2018.

He was so daring that he even stormed the President’s village of Ichaweri and pitched his manifesto to the locals just a few metres from the posh residence of the Kenyatta Family.

In his speech, the DP once again asked his boss to keep off succession politics.

“I am urging you to speak with your friend and neighbor President Kenyatta to stay away from the presidential campaigns.

“Kindly ask him not to cut off my legs with the same knife that I used in protecting him in the last two General Elections. Ask him not to extend support to the man of riddles (ODM leader Raila Odinga),” he said.

Described the Head of State as ungrateful, stating that he worked so hard to ensure that he (Uhuru) ascended to the presidency twice.

“Remind him that he and I knelt down to be prayed for by the clergy and his mum, Mama Ngina Kenyatta. Even if he doesn’t want to help me succeed him this year, kindly ask him not to interfere with the presidential election so that I can defeat Raila Odinga,” he begged.

In some areas, a group of youths tried to disrupt his meeting but the police were on standby, making arrests here and there.
