The political differences between legislators from the Gusii community who are split between William Ruto and Fred Matiang’i played out last week in the Matiang’i’s office where a meeting they attended nearly degenerated into fiasco.
The two political groups had gone to Matiang’i’s office by virtue of him being in charge of the implementation of Uhuru Kenyatta’s four agendas in their respective constituencies and counties when their political differences erupted to the open.
Kitutu Chache MP Richard Onyonka
A source at the meeting confided that the Matiang’i group was uncomfortable with the Ruto group which has been fighting Matiang’i and now they wanted services from Matiang’i.
The chairman of Gusii MPs caucus Joash Nyamoko who had led the two teams has denied rumours doing the rounds in social media that two of his colleagues physically fought in Matiang’i’s office.
Nyamoko said that during the meeting which took four hours, the MPs had a fruitful meeting where they discussed development issued in their respective constituencies and counties.
Speaking to Weekly Citizen, Nyamoko said that it was reckless for some individuals to use social media to spread falsehood about the visit which he termed as fruitful and successful.
Bomachoge MP Alpha Miruka
It was alleged in the social media that Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka and his Bomachoge Chache counterpart Alpha Miruka exchanged bitter words after a disagreement a rose between them.
Onyonka and Miruka do not read from the same political script as Onyonka is inclined to the kieleweke team while Miruka belongs to the tangatanga team.
Nyamoko told those channeling their news through the social media to be responsible and get their facts right by lest they distort information.
He said they had a peaceful meeting where each member had an opportunity to table before the minister the projects he or she wanted to be undertaken in their respective areas.
Nyamoko said they have agreed to work together in spearheading development in the two Gusii counties.
However two days after leaving Matiang’i’s office, seven MPs who are backing Ruto asked Matiangi to resign from his position if he wants to venture into politics.
They also asked Matiang’i to respect the deputy president and stop using his office to undermine his 2022 presidential bid.
The legislators Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango), Vincent Kemosi (West Mugirango), Shadrack Mose (Kitutu Masaba), Sylvanus Osoro (South Mugirango), Innocent Obiri (Bobasi), Oloo Oyioka (Bonchari) and Alpha Miruka (Bomachoge Chache) also asked senior civil servants from the community who were also meddling with the area politics to keep off
