Former Majority Leader Aden Duale is set to ascend to a powerful Parliamentary position barely a month after he was unceremoniously kicked out in the recent purge in Jubilee.

Reports indicate that the Garissa township lawmaker has received formal
communication to be a member of the all-powerful watchdog Public
Accounts Committee.

The development places him in dilemma as he is the only one among DP
Ruto’s allies to land a powerful post after the recent purge that caused a
storm in the party.

Insiders indicate that Duale is yet to decide whether to accept or
decline the role as he
is still consulting widely with two rival faction emerging in Jubilee
(Tangatanga and Kieleweke) as the party leader stamps his authority to kick out
rebel MPs.

The DP has been increasingly cutting the image of an isolated and
troubled man with his allies being kicked out of plum positions, perhaps
prompting him to reach out to new allies.

Musalia Mudavadi who has emerged as a darling among those eyeing to succeed the president recently made it clear that he would only accept to work with the DP under one condition.

The ANC party leader maintained that the DP must shelve his bid and back
him (Mudavadi) for them to work together.

“I am at liberty to work with anyone who has
the same aspirations like ours, including the deputy president and other leaders.
We are tired of being told that we are working for William Ruto. Let me say
that we welcome Dr Ruto as long as he supports our bid for the presidency,”
said Mudavadi.
