Former Sports CS Rashid Echesa has rubbished claims COTU Boss Francis Atwoli and Kakamega Governor Oparanya are responsible for the troubles facing Tanga Tanga in Western Kenya. The former CS went ahead to say DP Ruto is responsible and he is a a weak General, who has abandoned his troops in the middle of a purge by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Echesa, who has been a strong DP Ruto defender wonders why his boss is not doing anything when the same people who have been praising and defending him at political rallies are being hunted down by an enraged head of state, baying for their blood.

”The DP is the General, and we have been fighting for him. I can’t understand how a General can abandon his troops and remain silent when they are being purged the way we have seen in the Jubilee Party, ” Echesa said.

“I am sure if Mr Ruto had pleaded with the President, Mr Washiali would have survived the axe,” Mr Echesa said.

“There has been talk about Mr Atwoli and Oparanya pushing for the changes, but I never saw them at State House. The person I saw was the Deputy President and unfortunately, he didn’t raise a finger on the fate of Mr Washiali”.

The former CS has not only faded into political oblivion, by the virtue of his relationship with the DP, but also he is having several corruption cases some of which have touched DP Ruto.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been on war mode ever since beginning the fumigation of his Jubilee House. The exercise has seen top allies of the DP lose their leadership positions and membership in various Committees. This has happened in both the Senate and the National Assembly.
