He joined Botswana side Township Rollers but has failed to cement a place in the team and before the coronavirus pandemic hit, it was rumoured that he wanted to quit the club due to lack of play time.
During an interview with African Sports, Afriyie spoke of his time with the record Kenyan Premier League champions and what exactly made him quit.
He dismissed suggestions that he exited because of salary arrears.

“I left Gor Mahia because of landlord harassment. There was a time I was out the whole day then I came back to find they have locked my door, that’s what triggered me to leave Gor Mahia FC ” Francis Afriyie,” he stated.
Gor Mahia’s financial woes started when giant betting firm Sportpesa, which was the sole sponsor of the club had its licence revoked by the government and effectively left the country.
