Kipsang was expected to update the disciplinary body on his whereabouts between April 2018 and May 2019, but he failed to do so.
Three such failures within a span of 12 months automatically leads to a ban.
For 38-year old Kipsang, his situation was made worse after he allegedly attempted to provide “false evidence and witness testimony”.
In a statement seen by TUKO.co.ke, the Athletics Integrity Unit said, “The athlete engaged in fraudulent and deceitful conduct by providing deliberately misleading and false information to the AIU in an attempt to obstruct and delay the investigation into his explanation and/or prevent normal procedures from occurring, namely the recording of a missed test against him.”
Volare Sports, Kipsang’s management agency, said it was considering moving the issue to the court of arbitration for sport in the hopes of overturning the verdict.
