– Ezekiel said Papa’s sendoff needed to be one that was befitting for the kind and gentle soul he was
When a legend dies, the whole country mourns.
Following the sudden and unexpected death of thespian and beloved humourist Charles Bukeko aka Papa Shirandula, moral police Ezekiel Mutua has suggested the star should be granted a state funeral.
“Papa Shirandula deserves a state burial. He epitomizes the best of the entertainment industry. He brought so much joy and laughter to our homes without being vulgar,” the KFCB boss said.
Kenyans agreed with the firebrand man stating though Papa was gone, his memory will forever be alive in people’s minds.
They believed his legacy was proof enough of how great and celebrated a character he was and he deserved to be accorded all the respect following his death.
Papa died on Saturday, July 18, moments after arriving at Karen Hospital.
The actor collapsed at the hospital’s parking lot next to his wife after developing breathing complications.
His family members said the thespian tested positive for coronavirus after traveling back to Nairobi from Kakamega County.
The father of three had isolated himself at home a week before his condition dwindled.
Papa who was born in Mumia knew he was born to be an actor after relocating to Nairobi’s Umoja estate.
Personalities like Jalang’o said he was partly to thank for their success thanks to the many doors he opened for budding performers.
