Former Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti Dies in Nairobi

Former Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti has died after a short illness.

His family confirmed that the the ex-lawmaer passed away while receiving treatment at a hospital in Nairobi where he had been rushed after developing diabetes-related complications.

He won the parliamentary seat in 2013 under Jubilee Party.

In 2017, he was floored by Moses Kirima.

Following the defeat, he announced that he would be taking a break from politics to venture into the corporate world.

In 2015, Mwiti grabbed headlines after he was accused of raping a woman.

He was charged alongside a doctor identified as David Muchiri, who the police alleged he was used to aid and abet a crime.

Mwiti died at the age of 57.
