Former Likoni MP Mwalimu Masoud Mwahima passes on

Former Likoni Member of Parliament Mwalimu Masoud Mwahima has passed on.

He passed away early on Tuesday morning aged 78 years.

The former MP and also served as one-time mayor of Mombasa had been battling health complications.

The late MP belonged to the Orange Democratic Movement Party and served as Likoni MP for ten years.

Mwahima lost his seat to ODM’s Mishi Mboko during the 2017 elections.

Through its twitter handle, the ODM Party joined the people of Mombasa in mourning Mwalimu Maoud Mwahima.

“We join the people of Likoni Constituency and Mombasa County in mourning the passing on of Hon. Mwalimu Masoud Mwahima, the former MP for Likoni Constituency in Mombasa County,” said ODM.

“He represented the area twice (2003-2007 and 2008-2013) on NARC and later ODM.”

Area Governor Ali Hassan Joho in mourning the late MP described him as a pillar of strength and always stood firm in defence of the people of Likoni and Mombasa at large.

“Mzee Masoud Mwahima was a pillar of strength and always stood firm in defence of the people of Likoni and Mombasa at large,” he said.

“I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and I pray to the Almighty to alleviate your grief. May the Almighty Allah SWT accept all his good deeds and grant our beloved Mzee Masoud Mwahima Jannatul Firdaus,” he added.

Masoud Mwahima will be laid to rest in the afternoon.

Mwahima’s death comes days after the demise of Coast politician Ramadhan Kajembe.
