Former Mount Elgon Member of Parliament John Serut has passed away.
According to her daughter, Chemoss Serut, who issued a report on his health in January 2020, Serut was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and had been in and out of hospitals.
Now, the late lawmaker, a close confidant to former President Daniel Arap Moi, has died while receiving treatment at Nairobi hospital on the morning of Wednesday, February 16.
Serut was suffering from advanced myeloma and had affected multiple organs such as bone marrow and kidneys. Chemoss had accused the health care system in Kenya of being responsible for the deterioration of her father’s health as she pointed out that Serut was misdiagnosed with anemia in 2017.
This was before a specialist at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) assessed his condition and discovered that it was bone marrow cancer at its late stages.
More to follow.
