Jared Otieno Porsche: Suspected fake gold trader, Jared Otieno has won a court battle to get back his luxury car. This is after the High Court in Nairobi ordered that his Sh. 30 million Porsche Panamera (2015) be released.

The order to have the vehicle released was made by Justice John Onyiego. He ruled that the vehicle has been lying at the CID headquarters, wasting away due to vagaries of weather.

On June 20, 2017, police arrested the businessman over claims he swindled foreigners in a gold export deal. Apparently, Otieno had obtained money by pretending to be in a position to export gold from Kenya to foreign countries.

Otieno hit the headlines after his expensive traditional wedding in Meru. The ceremony was attended by Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, Meru’s Kiraitu Murungi and former cabinet minister Chris Obure.

Two months before the wedding, he had splurged Sh. 15 million in a pre-wedding party held at his rural home in Ndhiwa, Homa Bay county. The bride-to-be, Kendi, arrived in a chopper, while Otieno came in a convoy of 18 Range Rovers and a Porsche Cayenne.

Otieno is also battling accusations he conned a Dubai royal out of Sh. 300 million in a fake gold racket. He was charged with obtaining Sh. 300 million from Sounthorn Chanthavong, a director of Simoung Group Company, claiming that he would sell him gold. Court documents filed by the Asset Recovery Agency reveal the “price on the road” for the Bentley is $453,897 (Sh. 47 million).

He also famously splashed Sh. 47 million to customize his 2018 Bentley Continental GT. A vehicle order agreement dated June 18, 2018, between the Bentley sales consultant Dimitris Karakloulas and Otieno, shows he paid Sh. 9.6 million as an advance deposit.
