Fred Ekiru Amurio, a 16-year-old boy class 8 graduate from Turkana county seeks help from well-wishers and sponsors to join the school of his dreams. Due to financial constraints that his family is facing, his dreams look rather likely to be shattered as form ones are expected to report to schools in May

Fred Ekiru sat and passed his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education with 403 marks from Lokwii Primary School in Turkana East and was successful at earning an acceptance letter from Kapsabet Boys High School, in Nandi County. His parents are unable to afford the annual fees of KSHs. 45,000.

Kapsabet Boys is his dream school and currently, Fred Ekiru is stranded in the village, slowly watching his dreams choke a silent death. He sincerely wishes that well-wishers will come to his rescue or that he will receive government sponsorship to raise the annual KSHs. 45,000 fee.

Kapsabet Boys High School has proved to be among the best schools in Kenya after attaining top 10 positions nationally for consecutive years running. Fred aspires to become a neurosurgeon and he has a strong will to achieve his dreams. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Speaking to News Turkana, Fred Ekiru said that his biggest challenge is school fees.

“My biggest challenge is how I’ll be able to proceed with my secondary education. I have no fees,”

he said.

“I have always been self-driven because I believe I am going to be somebody out there. I would like to be a neurosurgeon, God willing.”

His Father, Mzee Amurio Lokitoe who is the breadwinner, said that they lost their cattle to banditry by cattle rustlers and thereafter he decided to do seasonal farming to earn a living and put food on the table. He says he has effortlessly visited quite a number of government offices seeking help for his boy to no avail. He is also appealing to well-wishers to help his son’s dream come true.

“Hatuna chochote (We have nothing at the moment). I wish I had my cattle. I could have sold some to take my son to school. All my cattle were driven away by bandits,”

Mzee Lokitoe recalled.

“I am afraid that he might not be able to report to school next week as we are not in a position to pay all the fees.”

One of the student’s sisters, Anne Amoni said they have no option but to join their parents on people’s farms to help provide for the family and send their sibling to High School too.

“We do not have livestock and therefore have to help our parents when at home for holidays,”

Amoni said.

Lokitoe is appealing to well-wishers to assist him in making his son’s dreams come true.

All well-wishers can reach Fred Ekiru’s sister, Anne Amoni via message or call. (+254 713598578)
