Drama ensued in Kakamega when a team of security officers barricaded the road thus blocking Boni, MPs Benjamin Washiali and Charles Gimose from convening a meeting.

The function which had all the markings of a political rally, was scheduled to be held at Gimose’s home in Hamisi constituency but the officers disrupted citing COVID-19 protocols.

An infuriated Boni attempted to force his way past the officers, grabbed a 20 litre jerrycan full of water and poured water on one officer identified as the area OCP.

Knowing he had touched the live wire, the “bull fighter” quickly dropped the heavy water container and dashed into the garden but not before the policemen gave him a chase.

Onlookers who watched the incident, could be heard shouting nyumba inaungua, nyumba inaungua as the former senator ran away.

Addressing journalists after the disruptions Washiali blamed the government for the disruptions citing that they had no ill intentions in the failed meeting.

“We came here to condole with our colleague for losing his cousin Johnstone Kavuludi’s mother, we didn’t come for violence,” he disclosed.

Washiali cited that they preferred to convene their meeting at Gimose’s home since their political differences with the government could not see them get access to the ex-police boss home.

He went on to elaborate that the second key agenda of the meeting was to see them deliberate on how they could collaborate with ANC party chief Musalia Mudavadi.

“Also we were to discuss on how we can convince Musalia Mudavadi to join hands with the DP and work as a team in the presidential bid,” he added.

The lawmaker went on to elucidate that their urge for Mudavadi joining hands with Deputy President William Ruto was geared at Luhya inclusivity in the government.

“Ruto supported the president and for him to make it he has to be backed by a strong man like Mudavadi,” he said.

He urged the government to be fair to all political wings whether they differ with the government ideologically.

“Why should we be barred while Governor Wycliffe Oparanya moves around the way he feels like? And even as we speak he is holding a meeting at Bukhungu” he posed.

This barely comes a day after Vihiga county police commander Leonard Omollo said he had banned any political forum within his area of jurisdiction for they breach COVID-19 containment measures.
