Huduma Namba Boss Philip Lemarasia Mourns The Loss Of His Father

Philip Lemarasia, the Project Liason Officer of Huduma Namba, is mourning the d***h of his father Mzee Nimrod Kahoro Lemuruka. His father who passed on at Avenue Hospital while receiving treatment was celebrated for the impact, he had in the Samburu community.

Mzee Nimrod who succumbed to Prostate c****r at 84 years old was celebrated for an impactful life he led while a leader and businessman in the Samburu community.

Born in 1938, Mzee Nimrod led a full life as a businessman and a leader in the Samburu community, pioneering the formation of livestock trading groups to maximize the trade benefits through higher pricing and reduced overhead costs in Kom, Kauro, Losesia and Koya areas of Samburu County. He also helped in training the Wamba Town youths in special brick-making skills to use in building houses instead of using wasteful timber and building temporary houses. In 1959, he constructed the first two commercial buildings in Samburu.

“I am sending my condolences first as a family friend and as a leader in the community. The community is at a loss of the great community leader we have had over the years,” said Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda.

Mr Lemarasia thanked everyone who devoted their time to mourn with his family through the difficult period.

“A father is not only a backbone of a family but someone who gives the family a sense of stability and safety. I can proudly say that my father portrayed all the above. He was a wise man who always seemed to know the solution to everything even those that felt complicated. His meticulousness to details and perfectionism were infectious well after many years of serving as an automotive engineer; you couldn’t expect less,” he said.

“He was a selfless man who did a lot for the community around him from drilling boreholes to making drinking water available to being an activist f******g for the rights of the oppressed and making land ownership possible for them. He was not a man that would sit down and wait for issues to resolve, but he was always part of the solution. He had strong opinions that could have been misconstrued wrongly since he stubbornly stood for the truth no matter the repercussions and he struggled so hard to right many societal wrongs happening around his environment. In life, we should all aspire to be part of the solution to the various challenges facing our society today, just like my father strived to do.”

Mzee Nimrod was celebrated for land rights activism and upon his retirement from work in 1990, he settled in the Chechelesi area of Isiolo town and fully engaged where he mobilized and assisted the community mainly the Turkana Community of the area to protect their ancestral land and to obtain ownership documents. This area is now among the most prime, upmarket and fast-developing areas of Isiolo town.

Mzee Nimrod was involved in the promotion and growth of cotton farming and the formation of Isiolo Cotton Farmers Association.
